The system was put in place to support parents and learners during the closure of schools and crèches as a measure to stem the spread of coronavirus in Luxembourg.

The national education hotline, 8002 9090, has 100 teachers at the end of the phone ready to answer questions related to the needs and concerns of young learners. Staff are also available to offer psychological advice and support. It is available in 15 languages, according to an education ministry press release sent on Friday.

The website www.schouldoheem.lu supports home-based learning and features optional, complementary teaching materials for students at all grades and across disciplines.

To motivate learners daily, national challenges are set each day in the form of small competitions. The website is available in French, German and Luxembourgish.
