The first edition of the three-week programme hosted in Wisconsin will take place during summer 2021 with space for five Luxembourg startups.

Launched by the economy ministry and American startup accelerator Gener8tor, the idea is for entrepreneurs to build contacts and test their products on the American market, the economy ministry said in a press release. It complements similar programmes in San Francisco and New York.

The agreement came out of a virtual economic mission from Luxembourg economic bodies to Wisconsin, focused on environmental technologies, fintech and innovation.

The three-day mission began on Monday. During his speech, economy minister Franz Fayot (LSAP) recalled the historical ties between Luxembourg and Wisconsin, a popular region for Luxembourg migrants in the past, where today there are an estimated 350,000 descendants of Luxembourg immigrants.

A webinar for Luxembourg exporting companies will be organised with the New York and San Francisco Luxembourg Trade and Investment Offices on 3 June.
