For flight-only services the figure was worse at 85%, while for LuxairTours services there was a 61% drop.

Around 25,000 passengers took Luxair flights over the Easter holiday period, a figure which was 86% down on the equivalent 2019 figure.

Eight of the firm’s Boeing jets were used this year, the highest number since pandemic restrictions were introduced.

The drop was despite measures to boost holiday traffic with the introduction of new holiday destinations, such as Toulon-Hyères, Dubai and Antalya.

Luxair continues to benefit from state support measures, as traffic levels are not expected to return to normal before 2023.
