That’s according to a report issued by Ceser Grand Est, a regional economic advisory body, on 23 April.

Nearly 97,000 Grand Est residents work in the grand duchy, while 45,000 work in Germany, 36,252 work in Switzerland and 8,500 work in Belgium.

Ceser Grand Est’s forecast stated:

“A third of the jobs created in Luxembourg are occupied by a French resident. At this rate, the milestone of 100,000 French cross-border workers could be reached… even before the end of 2018.”

According to Statec, Luxembourg’s statistics bureau, a total of 186,649 cross-border commuters were employed in the grand duchy at the end of 2017.
