Officers discovered 11 small ducklings, along with their parents, behind Remich police station on Thursday.

The station is located about 350m from the Moselle river.

When police officers placed the ducklings in a cardboard carton, to transport them back to the river, mama duck and papa duck became irritated and flew away, the Police Grand-Ducale said on its Facebook page.

So officers hatched another plan. The ducklings were placed back on the ground, and the 13 members of the family were given a police escort to the river.

Traffic on the Esplanade (route N10) was briefly blocked to allow the ducks to waddle across the road.

Police reported that the family of ducks were “all good” after jumping back in the Moselle.
