According to a press release from the infrastructure ministry, the SNCA centre’s office will be open every Wednesday from 5 to 7pm and every Saturday from 7:30am to 11:30am in order to accommodation an anticipated increase in demand for services relating to registration and approvals.

Appointments can be made online via www.snca.lu.

Vehicle registrations can be done seven days a week, 24 hours a day via the platform myguichet.lu (in French or German).

Applications can also be sent in the post or hand delivered to the SNCA reception. The SNCA has vehicle testing centres in Esch-sur-Alzette, Sandweiler and Wilwerwiltz.

For over a year now, new cars and motorbikes have not required a first technical inspection until four years after the date of registration.

A second inspection should be carried out two years later, after which the vehicle must be taken for annual inspections.

Meanwhile, users of so-called “soft mobility” vehicles, such as electric bikes (pedelecs) will no longer have to register them at the technical control centre.
