A total of 110 primary school pupils and 122 high school students have been tested positive since the beginning of the new school year on 15 September. 36 primary school teachers as well as 19 high school professors also tested positive for the virus within the same period of time.

Between 2 October and 9 October, 12% of all infections could be traced back to schools.

Although the majority of these were isolated cases, the ministry did note that 25 infections corresponded to a “Scenario 2’’, meaning a situation in which more than one infection occurred in the same class. However, since the start of the academic year, only two proper infection chains involving multiple infected pupils or teachers could be detected in schools, whereby one was the results of a sports class.

The ministry then also took the chance to reiterate the importance of adhering to the sanitary precautions in the professional context as well as at home in order to limit the spread of the virus.
