Luxembourg’s government announced the investments in March, during a state visit to France.

The grand duchy will cover up to €120m of the costs to:

  • Build a new park & ride facility at Longwy railway station;
  • Reorganise two park & rides--one near the centre of Thionville and the other along the A31 motorway--to include dedicated space for carpools and revamp the bus area; and
  • Upgrades to the rail line between Thionville and Zoufftgen.

Bill 7292 was introduced by Jean Asselborn, the LSAP foreign minister, and the rapporteur was the Green MP Josée Lorsché.
