Luxembourg DP parliamentary bloc leader Eugène Berger, pictured, has died aged 59

Parliament was suspended on Tuesday following the announcement that Luxembourg MP Eugène Berger (DP) had died aged 59.
Berger was a teacher from 1988 to 1994 when he was elected to parliament. He served as state secretary for the environment from 1999 to 2004. According to Wikipedia, he was the first Luxembourger to climb Mount Everest, an achievement which won him Luxembourg sportsman of the year.
The DP, of which Berger was parliamentary bloc leader, announced he had been hospitalised in intensive care on 17 January.
