On Wednesday afternoon, minister Lenert was not in attendance at a press conference alongside prime minister Xavier Bettel (DP) following the cabinet meeting. Instead, Dr Jean-Claude Schmit was present.

In a brief press release published this Thursday afternoon, the health ministry clarified the situation. "After a brief stay in hospital for a medical check-up, her health improved quickly so that the minister was able to return to her home where she will rest for a few days," the ministry said.

The reason behind minister Lenert’s health situation is not known. Tageblatt reported this afternoon that an anonymous source suggested a suicide attempt. Lenert, however, refuted that, saying “I would certainly not take my life because of politics.”

Contacted by Paperjam, Delano’s sister publication, the grand-ducal police say they were alerted on Tuesday, 23 March, by minister Lenert's driver, who could not find her.

"Shortly after, Ms Lenert was located across the border, in Nennig, Germany," police spokesperson Frank Stoltz told Paperjam. Lenert told Tageblatt she frequently walks her dogs near the pond in Nennig where police found her.
