The Luxembourg state is discussing the acquisition of a second building in Sandweiler for police use Sébastien Goossens/archives

The purchase of the Complex B building in Sandweiler is expected to cost €108m, according to Luxembourg’s parliament.

The finance committee discussed the project which forms part of bill 7463, on Monday.

The Grand Ducal Police have occupied complex A at the Kalchesbréck police headquarters in Sandweiler since 2015. The two buildings share the same underground car parks. Complex B will provide a further 14,500m2 of space, which is expected to be used to house the new police laboratory.

The acquisition provides for a lease contract and a purchase option. The building will have to modified to bring it in-line with police security standards.

André Bauler (DP) is rapporteur for the bill.
