The shared care file, or DSP, has yet to conquer the hearts of Luxembourgers: although 915,000 DSPs have been opened, only 12% have been activated, say the ministers of health, Paulette Lenert (LSAP), and social security, Romain Schneider (LSAP), questioned in a parliamentary question from the CSV.

Created “by default”, the files become active without the intervention of their holder, who is informed that the file gathers all the health data concerning him/her. Only 0.16% of patients have requested that this file be closed.

At the end of June, X-rays and scanner images will be added to the available documents, and at the end of July, the e-prescription system will also save prescriptions for laboratories or pharmacies, the two ministers said.

According to their response, 390 doctors have activated their accounts and 361 regularly use the system to add documents. In total, since the official launch of the shared healthcare file in January 2020, three million documents are stored there.

The two ministers are expected to launch new communication campaigns to raise awareness on the health issues behind this file and a new app for patients to securely access their data from their smartphones.
