According to public broadcaster Radio 100,7, depending on the investigation, the hospital could be charged with abuse of trust and domestic theft.

Responding to a parliamentary question on Tuesday, Luxembourg health minister Paulette Lenert (LSAP) said the government was aware of 24 cases of people before vaccinated before they should have been, of which 23 people were from the hospital sector and one from the care sector.

According to Lenert, the consequences of allowing queue-jumping should be borne by the hospitals, depending on the severity of cases, and could range from internal sanctions to complaints to the public prosecutor's office.

Vaccination figures

On Monday, just over 21,000 people had received two vaccine doses in Luxembourg, while 48,000 had received a single dose. Earlier this year, the government outlined a clear vaccination strategy focusing on innoculating the most vulnerable and exposed first.

The country will shortly begin the fourth phase of the strategy, aimed at vaccinating all residents between the ages of 65-69 (phase 4a), as well as those with certain pre-existing health conditions (4b), which include diabetes (with or without insulin), with cardiovascular complications; complicated arterial hypertension, with sequelae of stroke or associated heart disease; and neuromuscular disease with clinical repercussions.

Vaccinating osteopaths

In another parliamentary question response on Tuesday, Lenert explained that some osteopaths were not prioritised in the first vaccination phase because of a lack of vaccines. The ministry has since made contact with licensed osteopaths in Luxembourg and invited them to make an appointment.

To further complicate matters, a number of people in Luxembourg received invitations that had nothing to do with the first vaccination group. The minister said this was the result of a technical error that occurred during the selection process.

Anyone who has not been invited to make an appointment for a vaccine and believes that they should have been in earlier stages, should call the health board hotline on 247-65533.
