In a statement issued on Wednesday, the social security department said that a child may be placed in quarantine or isolation by the health directorate if they’ve come into contact with another person who tested positive for covid-19 or test positive themselves.

When the parents of a child impacted in this way must provide care, one parent will be entitled to compassionate leave for the duration of the quarantine or isolation period.

It is designed so that this leave is not deducted from the legal days available to parents.

The rule also applies to children studying abroad whose parents are working in Luxembourg. In this instance, the respective authority in that country must draw up a certificate outlining their decision to isolate or quarantine the child.
