The existing record temperature for a day in September, 34.0°C measured in Grevenmacher on 6 September 1949, was broken in 8 different locations across the grand duchy on 15 September. In addition to the new high of 35.2°C recorded in Steinsel, thermometers at weather stations in Bettendorf, Clemency, Grevenmacher, Reckange, Remich, Roeser and Trintange all rose above 34.0°C.
