Nearly a quarter million voters will head to the polls when they open on Sunday 14 October at 8am, the Government IT Centre (CTIE) said earlier this week. That’s a rise of 7% over the previous parliamentary poll in 2013.
40,400 are expected to cast postal ballots, compared to 18,200 five years earlier.
There were 246,974 registered voters in the last national election, a referendum held in June 2015, and 239,668 registered voters in the last parliamentary election in 2013, according to International Foundation for Electoral Systems.
Polls close at 2pm and early results are expected during the afternoon.
