Road cyclist Chantal Hoffmann is preparing for her very first Olympics in Rio.
It is probably fair to say that 28-year old Chantal Hoffmann is one of the least known members of Team Lëtzebuerg.
The cyclist for Lotto Soudal Ladies has placed second or third in the Luxembourg national road race championships for the past four years, but she has been overshadowed by the exploits of national team mate Christine Majerus while also fending off stiff competition from another top rider in the shape of Nathalie Lamborelle.
Nevertheless, Hoffmann earned her place on the Olympic team with a fourth place finish in the Luxembourg time trials and four top 50 placings in other international races this year, including the BeNe Ladies Tour and the Flanders Diamond Tour.
But in May 2014 she was recruited by the Lotto Soudal Ladies team, where she has enjoyed what she calls a more professional environment--only the top 10 or 20 women riders can make a living from the sport, but Hoffmann says she has an understanding boss who allows her to work part time.
