According to Paperjam, the decision is based “on personal reasons”, to spend more time with his family.

After two years in post, party president Corinne Cahen thanked him in a press statement for “his intense commitment” and was glad that he would stay active in the party.

The young politician, who failed to get elected to the local council in Luxembourg City in the 8 October elections, declared on Facebook that, while he enjoyed the close collaboration on the election campaign, he “regretted that there was no basis anymore to continue this enjoyable cooperation as secretary general.”

He added that he hoped the party would put the same emphasis on working with the party base on the 2018 parliamentary election campaign.
