The Spanish destination will be added to the growing list of airports already served by the low-cost airline to and from Luxembourg for the IATA Winter 2017/2018 season.

Tickets between Luxembourg and Barcelona El Prat are expected to go on sale shortly, a Ryanair spokesman told Delano on Wednesday.

Last year the Irish airline operated its first flights out of Luxembourg, beginning with destinations London-Stansted and Porto. It has since added direct links between Milan-Bergamo, Madrid and Lisbon. It now serves six destinations from Luxembourg all year-round.

The route to Porto will also increase the number of weekly flights offered from five to six while Lisbon will see its weekly flights rise from four to five, starting next winter.

Ryanair is the second airline to offer direct flights between Luxembourg and Barcelona, after Luxair.
