The US’s Warehouse Service Agency is expected to enlarge storage capacity at its Sanem facility, leading to a “substantial increase in its workforce”, the government said after its defence minister signed an agreement with US ambassador Randy Evans on Wednesday.
The memorandum of understanding concerns cost sharing for maintenance and storage operations of the United States Air Force Europe at the Sanem-based depot.
According to a press release, Luxembourg has committed to fund the corresponding project costs for a period of ten years to the tune of €225 million. A financing bill will be introduced in parliament.
“As a follow on to the first memorandum of understanding signed in 1978, the new memorandum of understanding reinforces our mutual commitment to our alliance,” the government wrote.
