Politics: reports suggest that Etienne Schneider, director general for economic development, new technologies and energy at the ministry of the economy, may take over from his boss.
If, as is now widely expected, Jeannot Krecké announces his imminent departure from the position of minister of the economy, Etienne Schneider is the man being tipped to replace him. A former alderman in Kayl, Schneider has been at the ministry since 2004 and is also president of the board at energy giant Enovos.
Krecké has flown back early from his trade mission to Vietnam and will hold a press conference tomorrow morning at 11 a.m. It is expected that he will announce his departure and will end his tenure as minister for the economy at the start of next year.
According to some sources, Krecké had informed the prime minister and cabinet, as well as his own party, of his decision to quit several weeks ago but had wanted to wait until the traditional New Year's reception to make the news public
