The next step for entrepreneur and founder Sébastien Pourbaix is to expand the fleet from 20 to between 50 and 75 scooters, but he can’t do it alone.

“To support our growth, we have decided to launch a cofunding campaign on the Ayomi platform, opening up the company's capital to €100,000,” he told Delano’s sister publication Paperjam this week, explaining that these funds will be used to purchase new scooters and hire operational staff.

The crowdfunding call will work with units priced at €1 for a minimum entry of €500 shares in Troty Luxembourg.

Ultimately, the firm sees its fleet as offering a simple solution to congestion in the capital and aims to help fill the niche between journeys which are too long to make on foot but too short to go by car. A specially created application helps users to find the nearest available scooter.

The concept has already been introduced in Brussels, Warsaw and Madrid, where take-up has been promising.
