Siweck will replace Danièle Fonck, who has reached retirement age, Editpress said in a press release on 14 March.

Siweck will join the company on 1 May. Fonck will leave towards the end of that month, the publisher stated.

Editpress publishes newspapers including Tageblatt, L’essentiel and Le Quotidien. It has links with the LSAP (Luxembourg Socialist Workers Party) and trade unions.

Siweck was editor-in-chief of the Luxemburger Wort for four years. He left in September 2017 after reportedly clashing with the board of the paper’s owners, Groupe Saint-Paul Luxembourg, over the daily’s editorial line. Saint-Paul has links with the CSV (Christian Social People’s Party) and the Catholic church. Siweck has been working as an advisor to the ministry of state since November.

Fonck spoke with Delano about the glass ceiling for women in Luxembourg media for the February 2018 magazine.
