Among the topics presented at the “security on my plate” event were the early warning system and info on food recalls--a timely issue, given the spate of foodborne illnesses in Germany and the Netherlands linked to listeria which, as a result, also saw products being pulled off local shelves.
Participants also heard more about pesticide residues and analyses, animal diseases which can be transmitted to humans, allergies, genetically-modified foods and more.
