According to RTL, the Mondorf-les-Bains resident will be responsible for planning and updating cycle paths. Currently, Luxembourg has 600 kilomtres of cycle paths, a span it hopes to increase to 950 kilometres in future.

Schleck is a member of the Déi Gréng party. He formerly worked for Post Luxembourg and the education ministry. When his brothers were cycling, Steve was also president of their fan club.
