The company was recognised for its iD Revolution, a modular flooring made of 83% recycled organic and mineral-based materials, and ensures a low environmental impact in its manufacture (recycling 99% of the water used and 100% renewable energy).

Second prize went to Apateq’s drinking water treatment plant, an innovative system introducing purified water directly into the drinking water network. ArcelorMittal/Sudcal Heat Recovery came third, and Hydro Aluminium finished fourth for recycled aluminium product Circal 75R.

A record 16 projects were nominated for the 2019 edition of the contest, which was awarded in the presence of environment minister Carole Dieschbourg.

Fedil president Michèle Detaille praised the quality of the projects, saying they provided examples of the kind of qualitative and sustainable growth the country aspires to. The laureates were awarded certificates and tailor-made films demonstrating their projects.  

Fedil has awarded its environment prize since 1987. It forms part of the European Environment Prize, commissioned bi-annually by the European Commission.

The Luxembourg winners will be candidates for the European competition.
