Kersch called the team one that was “worthily representing the grand duchy at these two major international, multisports events”.
During the Games of the Small States of Europe, a total of 140 athletes will represent the grand duchy across 9 different athletic disciplines. The biannual competition, now in its 18th edition, will take place in Montenegro on 27 May-1 June. It brings together athletes from nine countries, including Montenegro and Luxembourg, as well as Andorra, Cyprus, Iceland, Liechtenstein, San Marino, Malta and Monaco.
From 21-30 June in Minsk, Belarus, the European Games will take place, during which time 22 athletes in 7 disciplines will take part on behalf of Luxembourg. The competition brings together some 4,000 athletes, and athletes in 9 of the 15 disciplines can compete for Olympic qualifications for Tokyo 2020.
