What do you do?

I am leading the strategy team at Feilo Sylvania, one of the largest lighting providers in the world. My main focus is on identifying how we can use lighting as the digital infrastructure of the smart building and city. Lighting is everywhere; it is powered, and it is connected, making it the ideal solution to roll out sensor networks.

What attracted you to speak at TEDx?

Innovation often happens at the crossroads of different industries and disciplines--people working on smart cities would probably never have thought of putting their sensors in the lighting--TEDx is the ideal platform to meet innovators and game changers that I would normally never come across. This is where exciting inspiration and ideas come from.

Which other speakers are you interested in hearing at the event?

Robert van Embricqs. My wife, who is a designer, has a particular interest in designing solutions for small inner-city apartments. She has been showing me his work for years as such a great example of using design in creative ways. I would be keen to learn more about his work.

TEDxLuxembourgCity takes place at Neimënster on 28 April. The event sold out in just 6 minutes. But on 17 April Delano will hold a contest to win 2 tickets in our 10 Things To Do This Week newsletter. Sign up here.
