The line-up for this year’s BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open includes three WTA ranked top 25 players. The final list was unveiled on Tuesday and features German player Julia Goerges (WTA no.11) as the no.1 seed and US star Venus Williams (WTA no. 21) at no.2. Spain’s Carla Suarez Navarro, currently ranked no.22, Puerto Rico’s Monica Puig (WTA no.46), Belarus’s Victoria Azarenka (WTA no.63) and Luxembourg’s own Mandy Minella (WTA no.132) are among the other household names in the main draw.

Williams, who has 7 grand slam singles titles, 14 ladies’ doubles titles (with sister Serena) and 2 mixed doubles titles (with Justin Gimelstob) to her name, won the BGL BNP Paribas Luxembourg Open in 2012. Georges’s best grand slam performance was at Wimbledon this year when she was defeated in the semi-finals by Serena Williams. But she has won 5 WTA titles and this year briefly broke in to the top 10.

The tournament kicks off at Kockelscheuer with qualifying on 13 and 14 October--to which entry is free--followed by the main draw from 15 to 20 October. Tickets and more information is available at the tournament’s website here.
