- Nine years after it closed, Findel airport’s terminal B has reopened. The revamped terminal serves flights within the Schengen zone and is designed to handle 700,000 passengers per year.
- More than 1.6m passengers used Findel airport during the first six months of the year, Luxairport reported. That is a rise of 18.2% over the first half of 2016.
- Freight traffic on LuxairCargo rose 16% during the first six months of the year. The unit of Luxembourg’s national airline is on track to break its record of 900,000 tonnes, set in 2007, the company said.
- The number of asylum seekers in 2016 was down by 14% in Luxembourg and 7% across Europe, compared to the previous year, according to the European Asylum Support Office.
- The annualised rate of inflation declined from 1.7% in May to 1.5% in June, said Statec. Part of the drop is due to slightly lower oil prices.
