Book store Chapter 1 has opened a new retail space. The Book Loft provides kids, and adults, with an airy but cosy space in which to browse and read.
Sitting above the ÉireLuxIrish shop at 40 rue des Bruyères in Howald, Chapter 1’s brand new Book Loft is what owner Caroline Mühlfenzl calls “the second chapter” for the English language bookshop. The book loft is under the stewardship of manager Jane Mottet-O’Brien, who says that the venue provides an alternative for families seeking an activity for their kids.
Indeed, the new outlet features a large space dedicated to children’s books appropriate décor created by artist Sonya Hessernan, including a fake hollow tree in which children can sit and read. The Book loft will now become the new venue for Chapter 1’s hugely popular storytime reading sessions for children, and it will also host other events and workshops that Daniela Fusillo has been engaged to develop.
The Book Loft stocks UK best sellers as well as classic and contemporary fiction, a selection of non-fiction, graphic novels and cookery, travel and health books. Customers can order books from Chapter 1 and pick them up at the Belair store or at the Book Loft in Howald at their convenience. And while their kids are busy browsing and reading, parents can sit and read and enjoy a coffee in armchairs in the loft, and soon they will also be able to head downstairs for lunch or snacks at a new restaurant in ÉireLux, due to open later this summer.
