According to figures published by Adem on the Statec website, Luxembourg recorded 15,813 jobseekers, a drop of 1,006 people from the month before.

The last time the unemployment rate was this low was in 2011.

The decline in jobseeker numbers was driven largely by the under 30s and jobseekers with basic qualifications. The proportion of jobseekers in both groups fell by 10%. The proportion of long-term unemployed, meanwhile, declined by almost 9%. Adem recorded a 2.9% increase in jobseekers with higher education backgrounds.

Adem was informed by employers of 2,930 vacant posts during the month of October, marking a 12.3% increase on October 2016. The majority were in business support services (2,207), followed by construction and public works (806).
