The artistic initiative from the City of Luxembourg placed pianos in the streets for pianists of all levels to spontaneously showcase their musical talents while the public enjoys their ‘micro concerts’.

The 23 pianos were spread across the capital between 23 May and 16 of June. But they weren’t just any old pianos—the colourful instruments were decorated by patients from the CHL and the Kannerklinik, children from schools, youth centers, daycares, and other clubs from Luxembourg city.

As in previous years, people could submit videos on Facebook or Youtube with the related hashtags #Luxembourgcity and #myurbanpiano2019 for a chance to win prizes. The 3 categories for this competition were ‘Music and animation’, ‘Music’, and ‘Encouragement’ with 2 to 3 winners for each one.

The number 1 videos for each category are:

Winner of the ‘music and animation’ category: Jean-Philippe Koch

Winner of the ‘music’ category: Lara Cucic

Winner of the ‘encouragement’ category: Nadège de Prest

Due to the popularity and success of this event, the City of Luxembourg has already announced the upcoming of the next My Urban Piano in 2020.
