At the top of the ranking, making the long trip across the Atlantic, are people from the United States - 3.87million to be precise.

The French are in second place with 3.69 million while Germans complete the top three with 3.26 million.

Travelling the furthest in the top ten are residents of Australia, one million of which made the long journey to the UK last year.
