Wil Lofy was a well-renowned Luxembourgish artist born in 1937 in Esch-sur-Alzette, and famous and for his artistic and deep-rooted creations around the grand duchy. As an artist, his skillful use of metal, concrete, wood and marble to create meaningful sculptors earned him the respect and admiration of many. 

He carried out his studies in Italy and at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in France.

Some of his creations include the notable sheep fountain (Hämmelsmarsch) in the heart of Luxembourg city commissioned in 1982, the Maus Ketty fountain in Mondorf-les-Bains commissioned in 1986 in memory of the Luxemburgish poet August Liesch, Blannen Theis in Grevenmacher commisioned in 1991, and the Bacchus (wine god) fountain in Remich commisioned in 1999. One of his most recent creations Métamorphoses commissioned in 2016 portrays the problem of world hunger and humanity’s futile quest for a solution.
