The Festival de Wiltz is not only one of the oldest cultural events in Luxembourg, it also enjoys one of the finest settings in the grounds of the local château. The 2018 festival features a string of concerts, dance and theatre perfromances, premiers and new crossover productions. And it now also hosts a food village featuring a range of cuisine.

The festival kicks off with a performance by award-winning Australian contemporary circus company Gravity & Other Myths, who present their sensational “Backbone” show.

Spanish company Le Tendre Amour brings its production of Joseph Bodin de Boismortier’s opera classic “Don Quichotte” to the festival, supported by Luxembourg’s Lux Vocalis choir.

Music is provided by lute players Trio Joubran and American singer-songwriter Melody Gardot, whose set includes finely nuanced jazz and soul chansons.

This year’s jazz session at the Hexenturm features the award-winning blues and jazz singer and songwriter Ernst Molden from Vienna. And newly founded ensemble Caleidoscop from Luxemburg will compile a special programme for their performance at the festival.

A one-day “Festival within the Festival” is dedicated to cross-over and features four acts, including Berlin-based ensemble Brandt Brauer Frick, who deliver an exciting mix of classical instruments and club music. Also on the bill is Luxembourg pianist Francesco Tristano, regarded as one of the most innovative pianists of his generation, Jerome Klein’s project KLEIN, which neatly plays with contrasts in a minimalistic setting, and Glass Museum from Belgium.

In addition to the food village, the Weeltzer Musek will again host a dinner concert together with the Flying Orkestar.
