As she heads to the European Parliament to take up her seat for the CSV, Isabel Wiseler-Lima has stepped down from her post as alderman for Luxembourg City. She had been in the post for some 18 months following the local elections in October 2017, when the CSV went in to coalition with the DP following 12 years of a DP-Déi Gréng partnership.

Wiseler-Lima will, however, retain her seat on the 27-member city council, while Maurice Bauer moves up to join the seven-member college of aldermen. RTL reports that Claudine Konsbruck will take over as the CSV’s spokesperson in city hall.

Wiseler-Lima was elected to the European Parliament as one of two CSV MEPs, alongside incumbent Christophe Hansen, as the party slumped to a 21.10% share of the vote, down from 37.65% in 2014 and lost 1 of its 3 seats.
