That’s according to 2016 data released by the EU statistics agency on 20 September.

Eurostat explained:

“The ‘duration of working life’ indicator measures the number of years a person, aged 15, can expect to be active in the labour market, either employed or unemployed, throughout his/her life.”

The grand duchy, tied with Poland, had the 7th shortest career spans in the EU. Sweden (41.3) and Denmark (40.3) had the longest.

The EU27 average was 35.6 years, which is a gain of 1.8 years since 2006.
