The gala event was hosted by Luxembourg City mayor Xavier Bettel and included a dinner, live performances and a lingerie fashion show and a tombola featuring a selection of fabulous prizes.
Lea Linster provided her famous Madeleines for the occasion, Li Marteling’s dancers performed a Bond-themed show and sopranos Claudia Galli and Andrea Hills, accompanied by pianist Grégory Moulin provided musical entertainment.
In addition, models led by Elisabeth del Boccio paraded lingerie from boutique Just Audace along with shoes from Bel Scarpe. They were styled by Vito Coiffure Emotions and Giorgio Armani Cosmetics. Flowers for the event were supplied by Ellebore.
Femmes Développement focuses on micro-credits, education and children’s projects in Rwanda and has already helped construct a primary school for some 1,900 pupils and provided several hundred Rwandans, mostly women, with micro-credits.
Its latest project is to construct an education centre in Nyamasheké that will not only house a primary school but also kindergarten, a technical high school, dormitories and a sports centre as well as a health centre for the entire region.
The dinner raised a significant sum--the final total still has to be calculated--but on the evening itself Femmes Développement was presented with a cheque for €12,000 by Creahaus Constructions and Maisons Loginter.
