The award recognises businesswomen who have launched themselves “on a remarkable entrepreneurial adventure.” The architect was honoured during a ceremony attended by more than 100 at the route d’Esch headquarters of Banque Internationale à Luxembourg.
Throughout her career, Folmer has been actively involved in giving women a boost and gaining the confidence needed to make to leap into entrepreneurship, the jury noted.
Folmer has founded three companies that together employ 22 people: the architecture firm Team 31, which she started in 1995; health and safety project management firm Alto, created in 2009; and Expressions(s), which is currently under development.
Although she said that she finds herself at a career crossroads, Folmer also said that she has no intention of slowing down.
