Everyone was “beautifully dressed” for a “nice relaxed evening” over the weekend at the British Ladies Club’s Late Summer Ball.
“We just thought nobody dresses up anymore when they go out”, Becky Gollackner, co-chair of the BLC, told Delano following the event. Indeed, the group’s last black tie event was two years ago for Queen Elisabeth’s diamond jubilee. So last weekend’s gala was “just a really nice occasion to get their glad-rags out and have a nice time, really.”
Nearly five dozen members and guests attend the soiree, which was held Saturday at the Hotel Le Royal.
Gollackner says the “British” part of the group’s name “does disjustice to us because we have so many international women, we’re more of an English speaking club”. It counts 44 nationalities among its members and “we even have a few Luxembourgers”.
The BLC is open to “everybody new or who’s been here for a long time and wants to find new friends”. Among other activities it has a children’s group and monthly meals in different regions of the country. “It’s a nice social club”, Gollackner summarises.
