The residence of the British ambassador recently turned into Santa’s workshop as children were welcomed at a party organised by the British Ladies Club.
Or maybe that should be Father Christmas’s workshop, although we heard from a little elf that the guy in the white beard feels just at home at the American Chamber of Commerce as he does at the North Pole.
Father Christmas, Santa, St. Nick--no matter his name, kids were thrilled to meet him--and as it happened to be the day before Kleeschendag, it was the perfect time to put in a request.
Kylie Morrison and Kate Ensor both serve as children’s coordinators at the BLC and had their hands full on December 5 with all the bustle. “It’s just good luck,” Morrison told Delano, “that I get to work with Kate. She’s amazing.”
“It’s so nice to be able to have a traditional kind of event in English for the little ones,” Morrison added.
Ambassador Alice Walpole, honorary president of the BLC, graciously hosted the children’s Christmas party at her residence, and even provided the cakes, biscuits and tea for the parents. Father Christmas took note.
Meanwhile the kids were given “party packs” of goodies by the BLC to enjoy picnic style.
A pat on the antlers goes to the BLC’s Lynn Frank. This little dear (or is it deer?) deserves to lead the sleigh team this year for all her hard work keeping the kids entertained.
Saskia Podzun and Fiona Heintjes are on Father Christmas’s Nice List for all their help with the arts and crafts.
Spoiler alert: has anyone else noticed that Amcham’s chairman and CEO Paul Schoenberg has a definite twinkle in his eye? And his dimples, how merry!
“All the volunteers did so much to make this possible, and it was a really welcoming atmosphere”, said Morrison.
And not only did it feel good, it did good. Part of the fun included making tree decorations from the Red Cross to help support the needy.
