The good people at the British & Irish Film Festival Luxembourg have given Delano 5 pairs of tickets to the screening of Francis Lee’s acclaimed drama starring Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan

One of the highlights of a programme packed with critically lauded and crowd-pleasing films, Francis Lee’s Ammonite features what Peter Bradshaw in his The Guardian review called “two superlative performers” in the shape of Kate Winslet and Saoirse Ronan.

The film is set in 1840 Lyme Regis in Dorset, England. Winslet plays the real life palaeontologist Mary Anning, who is asked by a male scientist to take his depressed wife Charlotte, played by Ronan, on her explorations of the rugged shoreline. The two women develop a bond that goes beyond mere friendship.

Bradshaw describes Ronan’s Charlotte as “glacial and pale” while Mark Kermode, also in The Guardian, describes Winslet’s character as “superbly flinty” and admires Stéphane Fontaine’s crisp cinematography. The film is one of few words, and has been called a “slow-burn”, but will attract audiences who enjoy costume drama and intimate love stories and powerful acting.

Delano has 5 pairs of tickets to the BIFFL screening on Saturday 18 September at 7pm. To enter the draw to win a pair, simply answer the question and fill out the form below. Deadline for entries is Friday 17 September at 9am.
