Gender equality activist Bandana Rana will speak at the University of Luxembourg about women’s rights and advancement in south Asia.

“Finding your voice and identity as a woman in Nepal is as difficult as climbing Mount Everest, the highest peak in the world,” Rana has said. But scaling the mountain is possible with vibrant women’s movements and social activism. Rana’s talk on 30 November will feature examples of bottom-up movements, breaking the culture of silence around domestic violence, harnessing the potential of the media, and partnerships for inclusive development.

Rana is a member of the UN Committee on the Convention of the Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (UN CEDAW) and chair of the Global Network of Women Peacebuilders (GNWP).

The lecture is hosted as part of Orange Week, a UN awareness campaign to combat violence against women and girls. To register to attend at Belval Campus, email [email protected] or .
