Lucien Elsen has been hosting some slick events at his Mesa Verde restaurant. Next Sunday, 20 March is no exception.
Mesa Verde’s Sunday series continues with an intimate concert by acclaimed local musician Rome accompanies by tapas and tasty soup.
Jérôme Reuter, aka Rome, describes himself as an “experimental neofolk and martial industrial act”. He has been producing music under the Rome moniker since 2005 and in the intervening 17 years has built an impressive canon of work, with some 13 or so albums to his name.
His lyrics, inspired by the likes of William Burroughs and Herman Hesse, reflect his interest in history, philosophy and the arts. But the music is always accessible even at its most experimental and dark.
2019 album Le Ceneri Di Heliodoro (The ashes of Heliodoro), for instance, tackles subjects including “Europe’s dissolving unity, or its relations to the US and the fragile fraternity of its nations” according to review by New Model Radio.
