The Luxembourg for Peace Orchestra and the Chœur de Chambre de Luxembourg, featuring four soloists, will perform the composer’s final masterpiece in aid of victims of the war in Ukraine.

Featuring an adaptation of Friederich Schiller’s Ode To Joy in its fourth movement, Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony is an apt selection for a concert for peace on Europe Day--it was adopted by the Council of Europe as its anthem in 1972.

Composed between 1822 and 1824, the symphony--Beethoven’s last and the first by any major composer to feature a choral part--was first performed in Vienna on 7 May 1824.

It is performed at the Philharmonie by the Luxembourg for Peace Orchestra and the Chœur de Chambre de Luxembourg, featuring four soloists--soprano Elizabeth Wiles alto Manou Walesch, tenor NN and baritone David John Pike. Proceeds from ticket sales will go to helping victims of the war in Ukraine. Book seats via the .
