The Minett Park Fond-de-Gras heritage railway will be marking the 70th anniversary of the reign of Elizabeth II in style on Sunday 22 May.

The Fond-de-Gras is hosting a day of events with the Cockerill English steam locomotive on Sunday 22 May as it celebrates the platinum jubilee of the reign of Queen Elizabeth II. Special Cockerill 503 locomotive races start at 1.45 pm and 4.10 pm. 

As well as the train, a double-decker Routemaster bus will be in service, and an authentic red telephone box will be installed on the platform. English guards will be patrolling the quay under the watchful eye of Sherlock Holmes.

Visitors can try their hand at tea duelling and parasol duelling, while kids can enjoy a Paddington-themed kids’ corner with board games, face-painting and colouring among the activities.

A cinema train will be screening episodes of Mr Bean.

The Fond-de-Gras station buffet will be serving grilled food, homemade cakes and refreshments throughout the day.

The Fond-de-Gras by Train 1900 is taking visitors to the site from Pétange (rue de Niederkorn, free parking). Departures are scheduled at : 11 am, 1.15 pm, 2.15 pm, 3.15 pm, 4.15 pm, 5.15 pm and 6.20 pm.
