Party into National Day
Outdoor parties on National Day eve Matic Zorman
The biggest party of the year, the eve of National Day, is back with a bang.
The first fully-fledged eve of National Day celebrations since 2019 will surely attract huge crowds to the capital city on 22 June. As well as the traditional torch-lit parade and impressive fireworks display, visitors to the city can enjoy free concerts on the Glacis on the first night of the City Sounds festival as well as music groups and traditional folk dance on the Place d’Armes.
But for party-goers with staying power, the best fun is to be had at the outdoor stages hosted by local bars.
The best is probably the original , which starts at 6pm in the courtyard just off rue du St. Esprit. Lucien Elsen has pulled out the stops again to get some great international artists performing at the parts including Sara Alinho from Cape Verde, Beatriz Martin and her band from Tenerife, Ipek feat Eastnbull from Istanbul-Berlin and Acido Pantera from Colombia, as well as DJ sets from Leo Lopez featuring Amit ,Clubzone and the Vj Ozz Video Show.
Alternatively, De Gudde Wëllen is hosting a featuring sets from Peet, DJ Bobby Bieles, hip-hop collective Stafyou, rapper Corbi and DJ Ralitt (aka Khalid Bartholomé).
