Local female vocalists dominate the programme for an evening of music in support of the Liewenshaff socio-educational centre.
Already in its 22nd edition, the Liewenshaff Jazz & Blues Festival this year has attracted a quality line-up of artists who will perform in support of the socio-educational centre that helps young people reintegrate into society.
Locally based Dutch singer Edith van den Heuvel kicks off the evening with jazz ensemble Fujazzi, whose repertoire includes both custom arrangements of jazz standards and original compositions. Also on the programme is jazz vocalist extraordinaire Sascha Ley who will perform as a duo with regular partner, double bass player Laurent Payfert. And Luxembourg blues lady Chantal Gottschalk will round off the evening with her Boys playing covers of well-known and lesser-known blues song. In addition, acclaimed German blues guitarist Greyhound George will bring his band to play the festival.
The Liewenshaff (life farm) in Merscheid was founded 27 years ago by the Päerd's Atelier (horse studio), which enabled young people to reintegrate into society by working with horses. Nowadays it is a fully designated training centre with a school, run in collaboration with the Lycée du Nord, and practical training in several disciplines. Furthermore, the young people receive psychosocial support and can use the in-house boarding school.
As well as the music programme, the festival will be hosting a bar and grill.
