Races and an exhibition mark the 70th anniversary of Luxembourg’s sole Olympic gold medal.

Tuesday July 26 marks the 70th anniversary of Josy Barthel winning the 1500 metres at the Helsinki Olympics. Barthel is the only Luxembourger to win an Olympic gold.

To celebrate the anniversary, the ministry of sport and the national sports institute are holding an open evening at the INS in Cents.

The evening will feature a range of track events including VIP relay races, as well as the opening of an exhibition about Barthel’s achievement. Food and drink will also be served.
